GLOSSARY

Riding figures:

Looping:   Riding up-side down in the Globe, there is 70, 90 and 100 % looping, it means the rider is riding looping on a straight vertical line.
110% mean the rider is going in the other way. Not recommended at all, except if  trained for. A very few riders are able to start  riding in one
way, do a looping pass the limit and come back in the other way.

Butterfly:   Basicly 2 riders ( can be 3 or 4 in giant globe) , all goes down and up at the same time, very technic, not always well performed.
If well performed the effect is very nice.

Butterfly crossing:  Only with 4 riders, can not describe with words, only done by the riders of  Las-Vegas.

Persecution:  Also, basicly 2 but today we see lot of good teams riding 3, 4, ( 5 is an exploit), riding looping  (85, 100% ? ) on the same line,
following each other. Very technic and very dangerous!! Only for high trained riders.

Cross of death:  The base of a Globe act. If the riders you're watching do not do it, they should stay home.
One rider horizontal one rider vertical (looping).

Double cross: The most difficult figures we can do in a globe of death, and extremely dangerous. Only one or two team do it correctly.

One rider ride  looping 100%  the other rider ride looping 100% a quarter of globe away of the first rider.
Timing must be perfect, when one is up the other must be down,
otherwise..... The guys from Las Vegas do it regularly.

Star war:  (also called triple mountain in some area) Minimum 3 but can be 4 or riders, all going where they want in the Globe,
crossing  each others  without a clear plan...the most spectacular
for the audience, must be good riders, but this trick does not requires hard technic. Just to do with long time riders
 and knowing well each other.

Other figures: : There is other figures that has no particular names, like riding side beside (parallel), hand in hand....

Tricks:  What  has to this day be done:
No hands riding horizontal, for good riders only.
One hand riding in looping, for excellent riders.
No hands in looping  riding!! Only done by 3 or 5 riders in the globe history! Today  Lucio Negreti from Brazil  can do it.

Side ride: with hands for good riders,  with no hands, for exelent riders.
Stand up ( on pegs):  You feel very heavy, not comfortable to do. For riders who want to stand up.
Stand up in looping: Very very hard. For excellent riders.
Free hand zig-zagging:  ( Also called Serpentine) , hard, very hard. For excellent riders

Apparatus:

Globe Of  Death: No one know clearly where has it been invented. The only proof  is a patent of  1904 in U.S.A.
but it was for sure invented before that.

Wall of  Death: Same thing, but not  even one patent. Started in the early 10's in the 75 degrees form and in the late20's
came the vertical Wall of Death.

Some countries such as India still use only  85 degrees inclined track.

Full pipe: at first look,  a new stunt. It's true if done in  concrete pipe ( Like Travis Hart and few other guys are doing) ,
can be done with BMX, Skate Board

and off course motorcycles. But this very rare show has been done before the Wall and the Globe, sometimes
in huge diameter you can't imagine.

Split Globe of Death:  Started in the 40's in Russia and Germany. A globe that separates in two parts. In the 80's
Douglas Mac Valleys created a new

split Globe, much smaller than the Russian ones, but more easy to assemble.

The Circles :  There is a lot of ways to ride with bikes or motorcycles in a circles, sometimes just in a hole in the
ground or a primitive 75 degrees track

made of wood boards. So started everything  long long time ago, perhaps the day after the BICYCLE has been invented.

If you have suggestions, welcome.
